Contra Angles are usually straight attachments with necks designed to accomodate various types of heads. The angle attaches to an air driven or electric motor providing the driving force which translates to bur rotation. Don't hessitate to contact dealers listing generic or secondary market contra angles to ensure they are compatable with your setup. Many of these are excellent quality and will provide years of trouble free operation. We recommend trying a 1:1 contra angle or nosecone first, if you use them, to get a feel for their weight and quality. These are typically very reasonably priced and have minimal internal parts, as gearing is not necessary.
Quality, workmanship, and material hardness are much more important when purchasing step up, or step down contra angles, ie 1:4 or 4:1 ratio. In this case gearing is introduced to achieve the desired speed and/or torque, and strict engineering tolerances must be maintained to ensure smooth operation and equipment longevity.
